Vast, genuinely useful at the free tier, and the 2024 seat repricing cut the entry cost for small teams. What it did not cut is total cost: onboarding fees are mandatory on four tiers, rose while seat prices stayed flat, and the contract has no mid-term exit or downgrade.
HubSpot is the rare vendor that publishes a genuinely detailed price and limits catalogue, and we should say so — it made this review possible, where several competitors publish nothing checkable. The 2024 move to seat-based pricing also deserves credit: removing seat minimums meant a two-person team on Sales Professional went from $500 a month to $200, and nothing above the old minimum got worse.
The reservation is where the money went instead. Headline seat rates have been flat at $20/$100/$150 since the restructure, but over the same period Marketing Enterprise onboarding rose from $6,000 to $7,000, Sales Enterprise from $3,000 to $3,500, and a $1,500 mandatory onboarding fee appeared on Sales Professional sometime in the last twelve months — it is absent from the catalogue a year ago and present now. A new credits system meters AI and automation on top. The published per-seat price is not the number you will pay.
Then read the contract against the complaints. HubSpot’s own terms say you cannot cancel mid-term, cannot downgrade mid-term, that fees are non-refundable, and that stopping renewal requires you to toggle a setting before the term ends. The dominant themes on Trustpilot — auto-renewal, charges after a missed cancellation deadline, difficulty shrinking — are those same clauses described from the customer side.

When reviewing the disadvantages of using HubSpot CRM, a few things emerge. Firstly, simple omissions or restrictions, such as being unable to resend an email that is outside a workflow or limitations on survey numbers. Furthermore, the email template builder has its flaws, creating scrambled layouts & data. Moreover, users report being unable to tag people in posts, attach items, or filter uploading content times to be unified or separate. This becomes arduous to handle, wasting time.
Therefore, despite the major advantages, there are concerning issues that can interfere with the functioning of your business. Ironically, the time-saving features appear to be offset by the unnecessary repetitive tasks, mandated by the gaps in their infrastructure. You could try their free version, however naturally this will have limited functionality, hence the real issues may still be concealed.

Three costs sit outside the per-seat number. First, onboarding: mandatory on Sales Professional ($1,500), Sales Enterprise ($3,500), Marketing Professional ($3,000), Marketing Enterprise ($7,000) and Service Enterprise ($3,500). HubSpot’s own wording is that onboarding "is required".
Second, marketing contacts. Professional includes 2,000 and then charges $250 per 5,000, on a blended rate rather than a flat marginal one. The mechanics are asymmetric and worth reading twice: exceeding your tier bills you immediately and mid-term, but the catalogue states contact tier pricing cannot be downgraded until your renewal date.
Third, credits. AI and automation actions consume a monthly credit allowance (3,000 on Professional, 5,000 on Enterprise) that does not roll over and is not additive across products. Exceed it and the catalogue says the account is upgraded for the remainder of the term.
Comparing honestly: the 2024 restructure genuinely lowered the floor. A two-seat Sales Professional team pays $200/month where it previously paid $500 for a five-user bundle. At five seats the cost is identical, and at ten it is identical. The change helped small teams and was neutral for everyone else — before onboarding fees and credits are counted.
Yes, and the free tier is genuinely usable rather than a demo — but read the caps. It allows up to 2 users, 1,000 contacts, and 10 custom properties in total, against 1,000 per object on any paid tier. That property cap is the sharpest cliff. Free pages and emails also carry HubSpot branding, and calling is not included.
Three things. Onboarding is mandatory on Sales Professional ($1,500), Sales Enterprise ($3,500), Marketing Professional ($3,000), Marketing Enterprise ($7,000) and Service Enterprise ($3,500). Marketing contacts are charged in blocks above your included allowance. And AI and automation actions draw on a monthly credit allowance that does not roll over.
Not at the headline rate, and for small teams it got cheaper — removing seat minimums took a two-seat Sales Professional team from $500/month to $200. But the published increases since have all been in one-time fees: Marketing Enterprise onboarding went $6,000 to $7,000, Sales Enterprise $3,000 to $3,500, and Sales Professional gained a $1,500 fee that was not there a year ago.
No to both. HubSpot’s terms state you may not cancel before the end of your current term and that prepaid fees are not refunded, and separately that you are not permitted to downgrade during the term — a downgrade requires waiting for renewal and signing a new order form. Stopping auto-renewal requires turning off a setting in your account before the term ends.
You are billed immediately, mid-term. The reverse does not apply: marking contacts as non-marketing takes effect only at the start of the following month, and the catalogue states contact tier pricing cannot be downgraded until your renewal date. Plan the tier you buy around your expected peak, not your current count.
Capterra shows 4.5 from roughly 4,500 reviews while Trustpilot shows 1.5 from about 1,200, with 51% at one star. Both corpora are active in 2026. They are measuring different populations with opposite self-selection, and the Trustpilot themes concentrate on billing, auto-renewal and cancellation rather than the product itself.
Every price and claim above is traceable to one of these.
